Bog Turtle: How will they potentially affect my NJ Project? (LIVE WEBINAR)

ASCE North Jersey Branch Water Resources and Environmental Technical Group Presents:

Bog Turtle: How will they potentially affect my NJ Project?

Speakers:

Evie McMenamin, RQBTS & CWB - Senior Environmental Project Manager with EcolSciences, Inc.

Overview: The presentation will provide an overview of bog turtle ecology, regulatory considerations, and project implications in New Jersey, explaining the species’ habitat needs and outlining how early identification of potential habitat influences surveys, permitting, and construction schedules. It reviews key screening tools (IPaC, NJDEP’s bog turtle municipality list, and Landscape Project mapping), describes Phase 1–3 survey requirements, and details common NJDEP/USFWS best management practices. The presentation emphasizes due diligence for federally and non‑federally funded projects, highlights activities that may trigger consultation, and concludes with clear steps for what to do if a bog turtle is encountered in the field.

NOTE: For virtual presentations you MUST be logged into the Teams meeting for at least 50 minutes of the 1 hour presentation. Your log in and log out times will be recorded. PDH certificates will be issued only to individuals who registered for the meeting and completed all requirements.
